Keeper - a Free Alternative for Your Sensitive Data

In the previous post, I have introduced you with SafeWallet - a commercial application for securing your sensitive data on iPhone and iPod touch. In this post, I would like to speak about a freeware alternative from Callpod, Inc. called Keeper.

After using Keeper for over a week, I found this application to be extremely useful. The application sports a sleek and intuitive user interface. Your data is protected with a 128-bit AES encryption. One of the features that I love about Keeper is the ability to sync with Mac and PC desktops and sync with multiple computers.

One more powerful feature is the Self-Destruct mode. If an intruder enters a wrong password five times, all data is erased. You can disable this feature if you prefer.

I highly recommend this application and it's so cool to see software of this class available free of charge on App Store. Keeper is a truly freeware - no ads, no spam, no catch.

Download Keeper now.

Michael,

This type of applications allow you to securely store sensitive data (credit card numbers, bank account numbers, PIN codes, web site passwords and so on) on your iPhone.

If you just put sensitive data in Notes application for example, if someone gets hold on your iPhone, he/she will be able to access your sensitive data. However, with Keeper, SafeWallet and other application of this type, the data is password protected and more importantly encrypted. Thus, even if someone gets your iPhone, most likely he/she won't be able to decrypt your data.

Hi Kim,

Unfortunately, Keeper is for iPhone only. However, I beleieve there will be some sort of security software for your phone model.

Hi Linsay,

Thank you for your comment. Well, mine is unlocked and jailbroken and the application works just fine. Generally, there only a couple of apps where may jailbroken iPhone complains.

Apple's sales still grew, just not as quickly as everybody else's. Apple sold 8.7 million iPhones in the fourth quarter, which is 18% more than in the quarter before. But the overall smartphone market grew 26% in the same period of time, as Motorola Inc. introduced its first devices on Google Inc.'s Android platform and Nokia Oyj boosted its sales by 4.6 million alone.

Next on our list, we’ll be creating an app that will actually let ambitious iPhone users try out the proof of concept. This primarily involves adding a user interface. Check back for this.
