The Apple Store app has recently been updated with two major new features:
• “Buy new gift cards and email them to friends and family right from the app. These gift cards are easily integrated with the new Passbook app (U.S. only, iOS 6 required).”
• “Ask Siri to help you find prices and shop for Apple products. (Siri-enabled device required.)”
However, the emailable new gift cards were nowhere to be found, as there’s no single instruction on where to search for them. So with nobody having figured out how to email gift cards, here come the instructions – there are total 4 methods of finding them:
Products > iPhone > View All iPhone Accessories > Apple Store Gift Cards
Products > iPad > View All iPad Accessories > Apple Store Gift Cards
Products > Mac > Apple Store Gift Cards
Products > iPod > View All iPod Accessories > Apple Store Gift Cards
It seems the Apple Store gift cards can be emailed, in difference with the cards for iTunes, the App Store, or the iBookstore. However, when one gets the gift card, it can be effortlessly added to passbook for the later use. The feature appears to be pretty cool!
As for the new Siri feature – it seems to be quite useful. For example if you ask Siri about things like “what is the price of iPad mini”, it’ll take your directly to the sections of asked-about apps, as it’s demonstrated below.
To get the latest Apple Store App is available in App Store for free, so go and grab it and get the best use of the Passbook, which had practically been non-functioning since its introduction till now!
