Apple has just been given a Technology and Engineering Emmy award at a special party in The Bellagio, Bellagio Ballroom, Las Vegas at a special CES event. The honor awarded to Apple, was for the “Eco-system for Real Time Presentation of TV Content to Mobile Devices without the use of Specialized Television Hardware”. While sounding impressive, the official reason seems a bit unclear, with no one exactly knowing what it really means. However, it’s widely assumed that the award has something to do with iTunes and iCloud, more concretely with Apple’s music, movie and video sale and distribution system utilizing.
The Technology and Engineering Emmy® Awards was launched back in 1948 and honor development and innovation in broadcast technology and recognize companies for their breakthroughs in tech world and significant effect on television engineering. Officially, here’s what the awards are given for:
“Awards are presented to an individual, company, or to a scientific or technical organization for developments and/or standardization involved in engineering technologies which either represent an extensive improvement on existing methods or are so innovative in nature that they materially have affected the transmission, recording, or reception of television.”
Despite being a bit unclear, the award does bring more appreciation and respect of how Apple has made the system of watching movies and TV shows so much easier. So congrats Apple, and keep on!
