iPhone 5 Pre-Orders Hit 2 Million In First 24 Hours!

As usual, Apple provided the numbers of the amazing iPhone 5 pre-orders, and guess what? The number of pre-orders for Apple’s latest smartphone surpassed 2 million the first 24 hours! To better draw a general picture - this number is more than twice as many as the iPhone 4S pre-orders recorded last year, amounting 600,000!

It seems analysts have been right when they said iPhone 5 would become a market leader in 2013. On the other hand, majority of the purchases that missed the iPhone 5 launch day are not likely to arrive till October. So with the scale of demand being such enormous, it seems those who didn’t manage to pre-order the iPhone 5 might want to get in line Friday morning!

Apple Fans Respond To Samsung’s Assertive Ad Poking iPhone 5

Samsung Mobile USA has published an ad recently, with the tagline, saying: “It Doesn't Take A Genius.” The ad listed features of Samsung’s Galaxy S III and iPhone 5 head to head, demonstrating that the flagship device by Korean Giant beats Apple’s latest smartphone in terms of specs. However, it should be mentioned that the specifications were listed in the ad from very subjective perspective.

Apple fans, on the other side, have been quite quick to retort though, spreading the same style ad recently, with the tagline that reads: “Don’t Settle For A Cheap Plastic.” This one is definitely made from Apple’s (and perhaps the fair) point of view, and demonstrates those features that are present in iPhone 5, but are missing in Galaxy S III.

Moreover, there has been another response to Samsung’s insistent ad – the original one has been edited with the comments and the missing iPhone 5 features had been filled with the alternatives that serve the same functions but in different forms. Check both versions of Apple fans’ response attached and do not hesitate to express your opinion in the comments below!

Exclusive: Rare Photos Of Steve Jobs And Silicon Valley’s Early Days Finally Published

The images provided below demonstrating Steve Jobs in the rising period of Silicon Valley, were originally planned to be published in an edition of Life magazine. Captured as part of a 15-year project that began in the mid-1980s by Doug Menuez, Steve Jobs rejected the publishing plan and reassured the photojournalist to keep the images, as he’d "have fun with these pictures someday." It seems that day has come, as the shots of Jobs at lunch with Ross Perot and the NeXT board of directors, how he “delivers” a "rousing pep talk" prior to launching NeXT Computer and many more have just surfaced and are now accessible for everyone to check out.

All of the images provided below belong to Stanford University Libraries and come with a comment by Doug Menuez. The first image demonstrates Steve gives a rousing pep talk to his employees shortly before the launch of NeXT Computer while also indulging in a short rant about revenge on Apple and John Sculley.

The image below demonstrates the day when Ross Perot gave Steve Jobs twenty million dollars – it was in 1986 in Fremont, California. Doug Menuez comments:  "Ross Perot invested over $20 million in NeXT after this lunch pitch on the site of the future NeXT Factory with the NeXT Board of Directors. Even then, Steve was a consummate showman who understood the power of compelling settings. Ross was blown away. But he later said it was the worst mistake he ever made."

The next image shows Steve Jobs explaining ten year technology development cycles in Sonoma, California, in 1986. Menuez: "Steve Jobs shares with his team what he believes about how technology evolves in ten-year wave cycles. Steve hoped to ride the next wave by putting the power of a refrigerator-sized mainframe computer into a one-foot cube at a price affordable to Universities. Thus NeXT Computer began as Steve’s quest for redemption after being forced out of Apple."

The list captured in Sonoma, California, 1987 is Steve’s to-do one, made at a company brainstorming session, with a set of very difficult technical challenges remaining for his team to solve in order to complete the NeXT Computer.

The next photo comes with a following comment by Doug Menuez: "Steve had an artist’s intuitive mind with the ability to dream up new ways to combine existing technology to create something completely new. Here he is pondering a solution to a technical problem being discussed at a company offsite meeting."

Apple Puts Up September 12 Event Banners, Hints The iPhone 5 Stretchable Icons

With less than a week left before Apple makes its major announcement at Yerba Buena, the company is finishing getting all the banners in place. The Yerba Buena banners just look like streams of color at the very first glance, but an attentive eye would easily notice that Apple iOS icons are revealed stretched within.

More specifically, the stretched icons featured on the banner include: the Music, Safari, iTunes Store, Stocks, and Game Center icons had been stretched vertically and in some cases flipped over, to create the colorful background!

Below you’ll find the images demonstrating that the banner is actually made of iOS icons, while it may seem quite unbelievable at the first sight. We’ve also attached the images of what Yerba Buena looks at the moment, and the process of putting up the banners, which usually are of little indication of what the company has to announce on Wednesday, September 12th. Anyway, check the images and do not hesitate to share your opinion in the comments below.

Apple Blackballs The Privacy App Clueful

In recent news, Apple has been noted to banish the privacy application called “Clueful”, by Bitdefender, from its Apple App store kingdom. The cell phone spy apps and iPhonespyware bothered by the app up until this point can take a breather for now. The company strikes Bitdefender’s privacy app in spite of the fact that the application resided in the App Store, what it would otherwise have deemed happily ever after, for over a month.

The tragedy goes something like this; Clueful was once a happy privacy app as it was to be launched in May this year on the Apple App Store as a paid app that would aid the users in terms of pinpointing the applications that were fishy or not as careful as they should be users’ personal information. Bitdefender expounded upon the launch of Clueful that it would give the Apple users a simple method of judging their various apps, quite similar to the way Android users have the ability to check application permissions locally. Regardless, the privacy app seems to have been removed from the App Store for mysterious reasons.

But why? On the surface it seems as if Apple has taken issue with the privacy app’s claims to aid its users in knowing what their iOS apps are actually doing, by its removal from the App Store and efficaciously forestalling its usage by any new users requiring its services. However, the old users who paid for the app before the crackdown will have the ability to continue its usage. In addition, Bitdefender has not been given a determinate reason explaining why the application was removed, from what it appears. Catalin Cosoi, who is the chief security researcher at Bitdefender, said in one of his statements about the company that they are working hard in terms of figuring out the reason for which their application was removed along with stressing on the development of the app such that its chances of staying up there are improved.

However, Cosoi also acknowledges that there is chance that some of the users might have been abusing the application as many application developers use the information gathered from Clueful for constructive and legitimate reasons, there can be others who do not abide the same rule. The remotion of this privacy application from App Store quite sometime after it was launched and stayed there, raises greater concerns about the submission process followed by Apple and the question as to why it was approved in the first place. One of the possible explanations may lie with the recently made claims by an ex-employee of Apple who asserts that the app review team for Apple lacks majorly in terms of personnel.

However, the app developer Bitdefender has maintained that it still obligated to continue the development of its privacy app, Clueful, and will submit the application again to Apple upon its improvement. Regardless, Clueful might no longer have much value as the new privacy settings for iOS6 are expected to be unveiled soon. What comes of the further improvement of Clueful and how relevant is it actually deemed upon the revelation of the new privacy settings by Apple, is a matter that only the future will unfold.

Here Is What The iPhone 5 Will Look Like- Accurate Leaks!

With the official announcement date confirmed, the only thing that stays unclear is what the upcoming iPhone 5 will look like. We’ve seen number of parts leaks and dummy phones, and despite of their disabilities, majority of the mock-ups were fairly accurate representations of what the new iPhone will look like when Apple announces it on September 12, 2012.

Nearly indistinguishable in design from the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, the chief observable modifications of an iPhone 5 will take in a larger, 4-inch display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, an aluminum plate covering most of the back side, a shrunken Dock connector and the displaced 3.5mm headphones jack along the bottommost.

With no single statement confirmed until Apple shows the latest smartphone off on stage, the images provided below, demonstrating the device mock-ups based on the parts, dummies and reports from sources that have been reliable in the past, seems fairly legit. Moreover, the fully assembled iPhone 5 dummy unit caught on camera at IFA 2012 only strengthens that this version is quite close to the truth.

Below you’ll find the images that demonstrate the potential iPhone 5 look, in comparison with the other existing devices to create better overall idea. Check the embedded photos after the jump by iMore and do not hesitate to have your say in the comments below!

Teaser For The Upcoming Angry Birds – Something Pig Is Coming!

Rovio, the creator of the legendary Angry Birds we all love to play, has recently released a thirty-two second video teaser, announcing the new installment for the popular game. With the title, saying that ‘something PIG is coming’, if the teaser is anything to go by, it seems Rovio is about to unveil another installment, probably bringing the phenomenal success just like the company has been enjoying with Angry Birds so far.

If you check the official website for the upcoming game, an innocent but rather naughty little red widely popular avian will meet you there. However, things change drastically when you click on the smug birdie – the pigs start flinging in a familiar manner on a not-so-angry bird! A number of green pigs falling from the sky to take over the screen makes us think that the roles are about to be reversed!!! We can now fairly expect the submissive pigs put in the catapult or a driving seat!

However, unfortunately for us all, there is no single hint about any additional information including release dates, gameplay or supported platforms. There’s also no indication whether this new game will conform to the so much accustomed Angry Birds setup or not. Check the teaser provided below and do not hesitate to express you expectations about something PIG that is coming!

How Can Apple Users Avoid iPhone Spyware?

For long iPhone users have criticized and laughed at their Android counterparts on being vulnerable to Android spyware; but not anymore. With changing times and advancement in technology, smartphone attackers are bringing in sophistication in their tactics to inject cell phones with malware. iPhone users now realize that they can also be easily targeted by the hackers, ready to steal and misuse their personal data.

Lately Apple has been criticized for acting like cell phone spy software – even a lawsuit was filed against it for privacy invasion, proving that iOS isn’t safe from malware or spyware. iOS lovers can continue to keep their Apple devices safe from such malicious malware by following some simple steps.

Game Of Hide And Seek
Some malware can be so sophisticated that they can do their job inside your cell phone without making you aware of their presence. Others have the ability to work in stealth mode. The only solution to get rid of these bugs is to install a decent antivirus on your iOS device. It’s a game of hide and seek, in which the malware plays the role of a culprit, which is caught and eliminated by the antivirus apps, the cops. The best approach is to search for a suitable antivirus app on App Store, which cannot only find existing problems but protect your iPhone from future trouble as well.

Jailbreak = No Warranty Against Malware
Getting your iPhone jailbreak means losing your super power protection against the threat of malwares - ensuring that your iPhone doesn’t have a warranty. In order to fulfill your desire to have some free apps you not only risk your iPhone’s security, but having a jailbreak also gives a free pass and multiple opportunities of infiltration for malware as well.

Although there have been reports of malware attacks on iPhones and instances when App Store has trouble with malware – something to cheer the users – Apple has been able to counter attack and destroy the malwares with equal efficiency so far. For a long time, it was thought that jailbroken iPhones were immune to the threat of malware attacks – with Apple waging war against malware with such tenacity one should feel a little more secure. However, a jailbroken iPhone is a blessing for users.

Take A Step
You are responsible for your own safety. If you jailbreak your mobile and install apps outside the parameters of the App Store then you have no one to blame but yourself for the repercussions. iPhones and Android phones are similar in one way – they won’t allow you to choose what permissions you hand over to your apps. Either you have to provide them with your information or you don’t install them. In that case, your personal information, on the hands of the third party can be used in any way, but if it’s from the App Store at least you can sure it doesn’t have any malicious intent.

Check The Latest Lifelike Video Of The Upcoming iPhone Right From IFA 2012

With the IFA Consumers Electronics Unlimited 2012 taking place in Berlin till September 5th, the new video was spread recently right from the exhibition hall by GSM Israel News. The camera man claims to have got a quick hands-on the iPhone 5.

The video has experienced enormous criticism the video since its appearance, but let’s take it as an attempt of approximation of approximation of what the iPhone 5 might look and handle like. Based on the previous leaks, the device captured in the video looks pretty much identical to the assembled parts surfaced earlier. Despite being a non-functional "dummy", the specs are selected accurately, and in overall, the device looks pretty much like of what we’ve seen several times before.

Featuring a 4-inch, 16:9 display and a centered FaceTime Camera, as well as a relocated headphones jack and a smaller dock connector, the device demonstrated in the video is even complete with iPhone identifier and markings on the back. Based on the leaked factory parts, if this mock-up is  something Apple is really planning to launch on September 16th, it does indeed seem that we will see a longer, but not wider than the 4S iPhone, with a wider screen, redesigned chassis and a new dock connector.

Enjoy the video embedded below and do not hesitate to express your thoughts in the comments.

Manufactured by at Phax Co factory in Vietnam, the earphones have the appearance of a fully integrated, single unit, with no single part that looks like it would come apart. The video shows the comparison of the upcoming and existing earphones, identifying that the new ones are much smaller and when worn, they do not hurt the way earbuds do.

In difference with the existing ones, the new earphones are clearly made in Vietnam, as the inscription on the wire says “Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in Vietnam”. With the older earbuds being mostly made in China, the video claims the iPhone 5 earphones are being assembled at a Foxconn plant in Vietnam.

For those of you feeling skeptical about this Vietnamese source, please note that the same has managed to get a hold of Apple prototypes in the past. So with the September 12th event we have got no invitations to yet, the truth will be unveiled at last. By then, all we have left to do is to guesstimate, so do not hesitate to share your expectations below in the comments.
