Google Maps For iOS Gets Updated To v 1.1

The Tuesday’s update of native Google Maps application for the iPhone and iPod touch is the first one since the search giant released standalone Maps software for Apple’s mobile platform back in December. The app was downloaded ten million times in just two days and managed to become the App Store’s top free app in no time! The v1.1 brings number of fixes and improvements, including integration with Google Contacts, local search icons that make finding places of interest faster and easier and more…

The new local search signs for restaurants, coffee shops, bars and more are quite self-explanatory in that they give visual clues to narrowing down search queries to precise businesses. If the user is signed-in with the Google Account, the app will now provide contact’s addresses as suggestions. On top of the Google Contacts integration and faster local searching, Google Maps v1.1 also lets you choose between kilometers and miles in the app’s settings menu

Here’s the full changelog:

• search your Google Contacts; sign in to have your saved addresses show up when you search for friends and family by name;
• quickly search for local places by selecting popular categories such as restaurants, bars, cafes, gas stations, etc.;
• choose between Kilometers or Miles for your preferred distance units;
• note that some features may not be available in all countries.

Google Maps v1.1 is available free from the App Store, with the English version rolling in seven new countries: Bahrain, Egypt, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. So get the app now never to get lost!
